THE BEST HOLIDAYS I'VE HAD (POST 2)
For this blog post, you have a choice: The Best Holidays I've Had or A Really Great Concert I Saw. In both cases say why you enjoyed it, when and where it was, who you went with, and anything else you want to say. 170-word minimum.
I had a really great vacation trip in 2017. I have had many nice trips and been to some concerts but because this one is fairly recent I will write about it. I went with my partner, and we decided to go in March, 2017 to Bogota and San Andres Island in Colombia. I had been to Colombia before (Cartagena de Indias and Santa Marta) and really enjoyed it, so it seemed like a good idea to go back.
Bogota was nicer and more interesting than I thought. A city surounded by green mountains with a mix of modernity and colonial aspects. There are great things to visit: the free Botero Art Museum with his art, as well as the art of other artists that he collected, the Gold Museum with pre-Colomban artefacts, and more. Not far from the city, you can visit a town called Zipaquirá, which is very old and colonial and has a fascinating salt mine--with even a light show down in the mine. Besides this, there is very good coffee readily available all over the city. If you really like arepas, you can eat them all the time, if you don't, there are other options. The people of Bogota are big city people, but they are still generally helpful and courteous.
San Andres Island, as you probably know, is a dependency of Colombia in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. It is a beautiful tropical island with white sand beaches and coral reefs. There are some small keys (cayos) located nearby that are great to visit. On the island there are hotels, resorts, and shopping. However, the nice thing is that the island is not completely touristic, and it retains its regular life too. The islanders have their own local culture separate from that of Colombia in general. They speak and English patois since they descend from Jamaicans. The Colombian government gives them local autonomy, and they even have a local TV station that broadcasts in English, so it is a very different part of Colombia.
I can only say: Go if you have the chance. It's worth it!

Hi! I've been in Colombia too -Cartagena de Indias and some of the Rosario Islands- and I agree with you... it’s absolutely beautiful. By the way, it is the hottest country I’ve visited!
